4th Triennial Vietnam Symposium

The 4th Triennial Vietnam Symposium was held at Texas Tech University, Lubbock, TX - April 11-13,2002.

The University "extended an invitation to individuals to speak", regardless of their point of view or interpretation of events.

The mix of academics, veterans from all sides, graduate students studying the war will be of great importance to the next generation of scholars who will examine and re-interpret all aspects of America's Vietnam experience.

The Babylift panel convened on Saturday, April 13, 2002. It consisted of: Ross Meador, FCVN's Field Director in April, 1975; Ken Healy, pilot of the first (unauthorized) Babylift flight; Shirley Barnes, author of"The War Cradle", who organized care for 600 of the babylift adoptees in Denver; Andrew Winterbottom, babylift adoptee--currently serving as a US Marine; and Lana Noone, mom and Babylift activist.

Shirley Barnes kindly moderated the panel, and the presentation was very well received by all those in attendance. This was an extraordinary opportunity for the panelists to tell the babylift story to a very distinguished audience.

Another recent babylift event took place in Denver, CO where a Babylift Recognition Plaque was dedicated on April 27, 2002. It is the first public Babylift plaque in the US, and the ceremony was implemented by Shirley Barnes.

If you would like additional information about the Vietnam Babylift, please contact Lana Noone: noone@mailbug.com.

Thank you very much.
