Your child needs to be doing activities. It is the fosterparents job to encourage and find things for them to do. This can be very difficult.
Your child may not want to do anything. They may have a fear of performing in front of others. They may feel inadequate.

You can help them by encouraging them and showing them how they can be better at the task. Spend time teaching them or get them books so they can learn about the subject and gain confidence.
Give them areas that they can grow in.
Examples of some activities:
1. All school activities (sports, band, clubs, etc...)
2. Local spelling bees
3. Chess tournaments
4. Volunteering (there are dozens in your area)
5. After school jobs (cutting lawns, washing windows, etc...)
6. Contests (photography, writing poems, stories)
7. Youth organizations or Youth groups (YMCA, Church groups)
