Adoptees Devotion- God's Family- Our Brothers & Sisters In Christ
"Keep on loving each other as brothers" Hebrews 13:1As adoptees, many of us come to a fork in the road of our lives when we
begin to ask the question: Who is our family? Our parents, our brothers,
our sisters, our kin? Of course we know that our "real" families as some
have used the term are those who lovingly committed to bring us into
their lives and homes. As we grow and mature,we come to understand that there were also birth parents who gave us life and influenced who we are. In our spiritual walk of life, we as believers come to embrace another family- our "brothers and sisters" in Christ. Those in our family of
faith who will spend eternity with us. Wow- We have A LOT of families!
God calls us to embrace them all. But there is a wonderful sweetness
amongst our spiritual family- our brothers and sisters in Christ. We are
bonded through our relationship to God our Father and His son Jesus
Christ. When we accepted Jesus as our Savior and Lord,we were adopted
into this loving eternal family! We are drawn to each other for we see
mirror images of Jesus living in them and the fragrance of Christ!
Prayer: Our Father, You who planned and created families for us to
belong in- who chose each person who would touch our lives as kin. You
not only created our physical families- you created a spiritual family
of our brothers and sisters in Christ!! Can we ever feel alone as we
marvel at your plan for families! We thank you for creating us to long
for family bonds and relationships- and promising us an eternal family
awaiting us in heaven! What a reunion that will be! Amen
Reflections: Do you ever ponder your Reunion Day in heaven with your
brothers and sisters in Christ??
Action: Today- focus on the family of believers that have touched your
life so far. Thank God for those special ones who you have bonded with
in Christ. And then envision the many- those who have gone before you
and those you now know and others you are yet to meet!! Thanks the Lord
today for His creating your spiritual family! And then envision that
glorious Reunion Day when we will be together in the presence of Jesus,
in Our Home- forever!
