We all relate to adoption in terms of our wanting to adopt children. Rarely do we ever consider other meanings of the word. In spirit of National Adoption Month, we'd like to use this platform to reach out and make you aware of others who desperately need us to care enough about humankind to adopt them.

What better time to celebrate National Adoption Month than the start of the holiday season. A time of goodwill towards men, when spirits are high and humankind comes together to rejoice in knowing that we can help rescue others in great need. Whether you are a birthmother blessing an adoptive parent with the gift of life, or an adoptive parent granting a loving birthmother and her beautiful baby hope - your selfless efforts are another person's magical gift.

Everyday their are thousands of families with children who go to bed hungry, with no shoes to walk to school and no blankets to warm them as they sleep. We're all guilty of complaining that we have too much stuff in our homes, cupboards, closets and garages. Now is the time for our excesses to bring joy and comfort to those who have nothing. This gift would be heaven on earth to less fortunate families that need blankets, basic kitchen items (i.e. utensils, plates, cups, cooking items), furniture and more.

Canned or boxed foods or the gift of market script or gift certificates would help sustain them with the basics. Any clothing or shoes for boys, girls, teens or adults will be soaked up like water in a sponge.

We at Adoption Network appeal to everyone to give back a tiny bit of all the wonderful fruits we have been blessed with -- adopt a family in need.
