Just wanted to share my reunion experience. I was adopted shortly after birth and never really cared about finding my b-family, but my adopted mom insisted that I should since I was raised an only child and my adopted dad passed away when I was in high school.

So, I started my search around the first of the year and ran across a lot of brick walls. I sent for non-identifying information and came back (with) nothing. I was disappointed, and someone on the adoption site told me to write the family courts in which the adoption was granted. I didn't have a clue what the court document number was, so again I wrote to the state capital, and behold, the next week I had that information. I was getting excited, and I petitioned the courts to open my records, which got the ball rolling. They responded within the week with what I needed to do, and 3 weeks later, I was contacted by an intermediary, and she told me I had a large family and both b-parents lived 30 minutes away.

My b-mother has 7 kids by my b-dad. I am the oldest, and he has 18 kids so, it's been really exciting meeting everyone. My b-mother is still getting use to the fact that I'm in the picture now. She's better with it; at first, she had an attitude and so did I, but we are slowly working through it. My b-dad is a real sweetheart. So for those of you that are searching, don't give up. Be positive and follow all options. If I can give you any input, please email me at tkirk89085@yahoo.com .
