What is the service?

The Children's Justice Act Grant Purchase of Services Program provides funding for agencies to provide services to assist children who are victims of abuse or neglect with their involvement in the legal system. The program is funded from a grant from the US Department of Health and Human Resources, Administration for Children and Families. The program currently helps fund agencies that provide Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) programs and Children's Advocacy Centers.

CASA programs provide volunteers to act on behalf of children who have been adjudicated in order to assist and make recommendations to the court and to advocate for the best interests of the child.

Children's Advocacy Centers provide forensic interviews in child-friendly settings for children who are believed to be victims of child abuse in conjunction with multi disciplinary team meetings for support and guidance on cases.

Services are available for as long as they are needed or until the child reaches the age of majority.
