When Reasonable Efforts Are NOT Required
Statute: § 17a-111b
The court may determine such efforts are not appropriate if:
The parent has subjected the child to aggravated circumstances
The child has been abandoned
The parent has inflicted sexual molestation or
exploitation or severe physical abuse or engaged
in a pattern of abuse of the child
The parent has killed a sibling of the child or
committed assault against the child or a sibling
resulting in serious bodily injury
The parental rights to a sibling have involuntarily terminated
The parent was convicted of sexual assault resulting in conception of the child
