Take It One Day At A Time

Being a single parent in itself can be difficult but wanting companionship can be a very important element. Many single parents want the help, want to share the parenting experience as well as just fulfill the human need for companionship.

Many times the need to not be alone can rush the healing process from the last relationship and people fall into the same type of relationship that caused problems before.

Take it slow. Don't date before you are ready. Rushing the healing process can only complicate any future relationships. Do yourself a favor and take your time.

Divorce or the end of relationship can be tough on even the most together people. Seek either professional help or seek out an outlet for your feelings.

Talk to a friend, priest or other confidante about any fears, feelings you have before you start dating again.

Don't let others pressure you into dating too early; it can be hard on you and your children.

Remember to be patient. Patience is a virtue. Dating can be complicated and not every date becomes a relationship. Don't let the need for companionship drive you into a relationship. A relationship is made out of respect, commonalities, and love, not need.

Dating can be rough. Children can complicate any relationship. Make sure for any date you make that the person is aware of any restrictions like childcare, babysitters, weekend limitations or any other difficulties that might present themselves during the date.

Discuss the situation with your children. Don't let them dissuade you if you think you are ready, but take their feelings into account. Be honest and up front with them - it will make your life and theirs simpler.

Take it one day at time, don't rush and remember that if it's meant to happen it will.
