Team Nutrition In the Schools: Idaho
Cataldo, ID
Students from Canyon Elementary in Cataldo, Idaho participated in an "energy demonstration" from the school's food service manager. Using a toy truck, the food service manager visited classrooms to illustrate that, just as autos run on gasoline, we, too, need our own fuel. Her theme, "What is our fuel? Healthy food!" led to discussing the food guide pyramid and healthy eating patterns. Students role-played to illustrate the link between energy and food.
