I was born June 17, 1968 in Elmhurst, Illinois. I am 6'1" and weigh 220 lbs., have dark brown hair and eyes. I have found my birth mother, Shirlene Crossman (married Shirlene Smetak), but I am still seeking my biological father.

Shirlene was actually near death when I found her and I only had the chance to speak a few words with her. She was sick and wanted to get better before we met personally. She did not identify my biological father when asked. She died two months later in 1995 from brain and breast cancer. From information I have gathered from my biological grandmother and a close friend of my biological mother, I am looking for a man named Bruce who worked for Superior Ambulance in Elmhurst, Illinois, around 1967. Shirlene apparently worked for Keebler in Elmhurst, IL, at the time.

It is said that he was an attractive man and he possibly drove a convertible. Gram remembered him giving rides to Shirlene's younger brother Bill (deceased).

I have thought about this a lot, and I know a great deal of time has passed. My mother died at 49, fairly young, and it was her second bout with cancer. For all I know my biological father is deceased as well. If I wait much longer, it is almost a certainty that he will have died before a reunion can take place.

I have exhausted my means of researching his identity. I have looked through old newspapers, found articles about CPR lessons and such sponsored by Superior, but haven't found anyone who worked there that long ago. The farthest I got back was the early 70s. I feel I have gotten so close, yet feel so far away from finding my birth father. I am 34, married, and have a son who is 3 years old. I can't express to you how much it would mean to me to find my biological father at this point in my life.
