After many, many years of trying so very hard to locate my birth parents I finally made contact. With the help of Social Services in Manassas, Virginia and some prying of my own, we made a break through. On September 3, 2002, I received an email from my case worker stating she had found my birth father, and that he was in contact with my birth mother. I was too excited, let me tell you, I couldn't stop crying. After this enormous break through, and finally getting to talk to my birth father ... I had another let down. The first was, my birth father requested some pictures of my son and I. After he received them, he gave me a call stating that he didn't think he was my real birth father. He told me that he thinks my birth mother only used his last name, and that I looked like a friend of his, but I do have a sister. Well, time has gone on and he was "supposedly" going to try to talk to this friend for me... but nothing, although he keeps in contact with me regularly. The second let down was when he told me he approached my birth mother and told her about me and she turned him away stating "she didn't have any more children".

Well, after all of this I was getting discouraged again. On November 14, 2003 my birth mother sent me an email stating that she is glad that I am in contact with my sister and that she has always thought about me. Well this was a VERY emotional day for me, and I still get emotional thinking about it. But now I talk to my birth mother everyday either by phone or email, I haven't made the attempt to actually go and see her just yet... I think I am a little nervous about that one, but I know the day is coming.

I just wanted to let everyone out there know that, sometimes it seems like you've done all that you can and it seems as though your hitting a brick wall. Well, that wall does come down, but sometimes it takes a while..... but it does happen. Don't give up, and remember all things happen when they are supposed to.
