Hi,

I am 24 years old and adopted. I was 6 days old when my adopted parents got me. I have recently started a search for my birthparents and have been able to get very brief non-identifying information due to my adoption was a closed adoption in Delaware in 1978. The information I received that my birth father was diagnosed with colon cancer at age thirty-five and died from it at age seven-seven [37?], my birthmother is still alive and I have sibling. Well I grew up with severe learning disabilities but have worked through them.

  Adoption Services
I have a 5-year-old girl and was in a very abusive relation ship with her father that has affected me emotionally, but I have also moved on. Well, 2 years ago I had a son who I gave up for adoption to a wonderful family. It was the best thing I did because my son will have a great life with his adoptive parents. At the time, I had nothing, no steady place to live, no job and finally no security in life. My daughter lives with her father's mother and was at the time of the birth of my son.

I believe that getting pregnant with my son saved my life, because it made me come back to reality and realize that I need to get my life together. I dropped out of high school, and after my daughter went to live with her grandmother, I was drinking heavily for almost 2 years every single night, then I found out was pregnant with my son I stopped. After I had him I went a program Job Corps and got my GED and a trade and was there for 2 years and just graduated last December and am now working full time.

Thank you for reading my story I feel it would help others that are going through tough times for me to tell them they get better.

Thank You,

Beth Sorrentino
