A Mother is a woman who gives birth to a child. She carries the child around in her womb for nine months taking care of herself and the unborn child. She loves her child very much to carry it for so long. She gives the child genetics, warmth and safety while the child grows within her. She worries about this child's future and will make plans for the child before he or she is even born.

A Mom is a woman who takes care of the child after it is born. She makes sure the child remains as safe as possible. She teaches it to walk, talk and listen. She offers the child values, morals and peace of mind. She's there for the crying, hugging, kissing, loving, school parties and bad times. She's the one that gives up every minute of her day to raise the child.

Sometimes the Mother and the Mom are the same person, and other times they are not. When they are two different women coming together to do what is best for one child they should be commended. That's why we have Mother's Day, to honor the special Mothers and Moms in our lives that made our lives possible.

Not every child can say to others "I have two Mommies." I can though. Because to me Mommy is a woman, who loves her child so much that she would do anything to make sure that her or their child had what she or they thought was the best. Both my Mother and my Mom did this.

Mommy's Loving Touch

Oh Mother dear, please don't fear, I will be all right.
I promise you I will think of you every single night.
My Mom is here next to me loving me all the time.
She makes sure I say my prayers for you when it's my bedtime.
I love you both for the things you've done. You'll never know how much.
You both opened your hearts and shared them with me that took a Mommy's loving touch!
