Why Are You Suffering?
You may have a condition that is estimated to afflict close to one in every two people who work in front of a computer monitor today, and not even be paying attention to it. It's affecting us in subtle ways we don't even yet understand. Do you get headaches, a stiff neck, sore back, arms or even legs (yes, even your legs can be affected)? Do you get tingling or pain in your hand, thumb or fingers? If you happen to be one of the many who are saying, "Of course I do, doesn't everybody?" then please consider what I'm about to say.
Everything I just mentioned can be caused from sitting at your computer. And the pain is only going to get worse! Gone untreated or mistreated, you can eventually end up disabled. Yes... That's right. All from sitting there and seemingly doing nothing stressful to your body. It is happening at an alarming rate.
The most common of these maladies is called Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. I don't go much for statistics, but the National Institute for Health and Safety stopped counting the workplace related cases of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in 1997, when the numbers got so high that they couldn't keep up. At that time there were more than 10 million NEW cases being reported every year (over 90% of all Carpal Tunnel Syndrome cases are actually not caused by the Carpal Tunnel, but the result of nerves being impinged anywhere from the neck, all the way down your arm, to the muscles in the thumb.). Our work force is basically falling apart. And this statistic doesn't count anyone working from home.
While the muscular, joint and nerve ailments caused from sitting at your "magic box" for several hours each day are not life threatening, the pain caused from it can become debilitating enough to make us wish we were dead. And don't think you will get any help from your average physician. Many are as far in the dark about what to do about it as the rest of us. And while the common treatment includes anti-inflammatory medications that only mask the symptoms, and surgery that is successful about 20% of the time, doctors readily admit that they spend less than five percent of their time in
medical school learning about the muscles, and most of that is focused on how to cut thru them, not how to treat them.
Here is the part that scares me the most. You can find out how to make the pain go away even while you are sitting there reading this. It's called Julstro self-treatment. And it shows people how to release trapped nerves, strained tendons and joints and eliminate the pain caused from sitting at the computer. It is a very simple process of relaxing the muscles and flushing out the lactic acid that has been building up in your tissue over the long hours of using your muscles in a repetitive motion. The knowledge has been around for who knows how long. It is ours for the taking. But we don't. We are so programmed that when something hurts, to go to our
doctor and get the magic pill to fix it, we won't do anything to help ourselves. Even if it means surgery.
My point to this whole article is two fold. If you are in pain, you don't have to be. And if you don't want to be, you can fix it yourself and live and work in a much more enjoyable state of mind and body. .
I'm far from being a doctor or am I an expert in this field. But look up the people who are. Life's too short to live it in pain. It's your body, and you have to live in it your entire life.
