Joyce L. Epstein (Ph.D., Sociology, Johns Hopkins University) is Director of the Center on School, Family, and Community Partnerships, Principal Research Scientist and Co-Director of the School, Family, and Community Partnership Program of the Center for Research on the Education of Students Placed at Risk (CRESPAR), with a joint/part time appointment of Professor of Sociology at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Epstein has over one hundred publications on the effects of school, classroom, family, and peer environments on student learning and development, with many focusing on school and family connections.
