Weapons

(1) Your weapons: If you keep weapons in the home, then they must be locked up securely. Weapons include Guns, Knives, Clubs, etc. There are state rules that need to be followed, check with your case worker, or contact the Children & Youth Agency in your area. Knives can include your kitchen knives, tools - knives for cutting sheet rock or boxes - knives for carving - knives for hunting & camping. A good rule in addition to locking your weapons is "Know where your weapons are!", and are they kept safe from misuse.

(2) Your foster child's weapons. I advise that no foster child owns or has access to any weapons. Your Agency has rules in this area which must be followed. Excluding a serious hobby (which must be approved) such as Archery, Target (gun) shooting, or Karate / Martial Arts (using nunchakus, bo, swords, plastic knives, sais, etc.). Only a mature, very responsible Foster Child should be allowed to use weapons or take a self defense course
